Oscars Best Dressed (in my opinion)

I had the opportunity to cover this year's red carpet (sadly not in L.A, but in good ol' Canada) for the CBC, and I have to say I was impressed with all the beautiful choices!
As always, there were some misses... I think J-Lo thought she was headed to the Grammy's, but overall, it was a fun red carpet (especially watching Ryan Seacrest get fake ashes dumped all over him on-air thanks to Sasha Barron Cohen).

Here are my hits of the evening...

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace
(even though I'm upset she wore yet another black dress, she still looked beautiful)

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
(everyone was calling it coral but it looks more pomegranate to me? Love the peplum detail!)

Natalie Portman in Christian Dior Haute Couture
(love the dress, hated the accessories... it didn't work together AT all)

Glenn Close in Zac Posen
(this colour looks magnificent on her. I even dig the blazer with it! Class all the way!)

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford
(this was my FAVORITE! Love how she takes fashion risks on the carpet... it paid off!)

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji
(the cut of this dress was perfect on her... so happy she won! Totally deserving)

Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive
(loved the dress on her - it was nice to see her do something different than her usual sex-pot look. Loved the dress, wasn't sold on the hair)

Rooney Mara in Givenchy
(It was nice to see her out of her usual black ensemble. This dress is amazing)

Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood
(Loved her hair, earrings... everything about this look. Well done Rose)

Stacy Keibler in Marchesa
(she literally looked like an Oscar! At least George had her to go home with last night!)

Viola Davis in Vera Wang
(loved that she went with her natural hair - she looked stunning!)

Erica ON Fashion Look of the Week: Put A Bow On It

We're finally beginning to transition to spring... well, minus the random snow storm we're getting tonight in Ottawa... but spring will be upon us soon enough!

As a result, I was feeling for warmer days so I opted to go bare legs with a long sleeve silk blouse (that can easily be worn all year long). I'm not a big dress shirt and skirt wearer, so I made sure to make it my own by adding these oh-so-sparkly pumps and fun bracelets!

Ottawa Fashion Week Recap

Ottawa Fashion Week was a little earlier than usual this season, but boy were they ready. With 18 designers strutting their designs down the runway at The Westin Hotel, this year had some unique, eclectic and fun designs.

There were some designers who were better than others, but ultimately it was about supporting the local community and how much we've all grown in the Canadian fashion industry.

Here are some of my favorite designers from the show this year:

Special thanks to all the incredible men and women who put this together each season and the amazing volunteers who make it happen.
I'm so proud to be an Ottawa gal after a weekend like this!

NYFW is all about the runway, but it's also about who's sitting in the front row, and what they're wearing. I've put together a collection of some of my fav girls that I saw over fashion week - Hanneli, Louise, Olivia and Chiara.
